Dr. Sasha Piastro-Tedford?enjoys wearing many hats as a singer, teacher, coach,?accompanist, and director.?As?a?professional singer, she has enjoyed?a?career in?classical and musical theater singing, as?well as concert repertoire.?Some favorite roles?include Rosalinda in?Die Fledermaus,?Euridice in Glück’s?Orfeo ed Euridice,?Pamina in?The Magic Flute,?Rowan in?The Little Sweep,?Zerlina in?Don Giovanni, Celia in?Iolanthe,?Le?la in Bizet’s?Les Pêcheurs de Perles,?and Cathy in?The Last Five Years.?As?a?voice teacher, Dr. Piastro has maintained an active private studio as well as?teaching at the collegiate level for eighteen years. She believes in training her students?to be versatile singers who come to appreciate their unique voices and personal?artistry.?Dr. Piastro has taught the gamut of voice-related courses, including Vocal Literature, Vocal Diction, Vocal Methods, and Musical Theater Workshop. She has presented workshops on Vocal Technique and Vocal Health for the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, and has enjoyed working as a guest clinician with high school choirs in the central and western PA areas. Dr. Piastro is a member of the Associated Guild of Musical Artists, Opera America, and the National Association of Teachers of Singing, for which she currently serves as Secretary of the Tri-State Chapter.?
